The Lumière Factory

 Ilford Prrivate Archives : Autochrome. Founded on January 5th 1884 under the corporate name of Antoine Lumière et ses Fils, the company became Société Anonyme des Plaques et Papiers Photographiques Antoine Lumière et ses Fils on May 2nd 1892 then Union Photographique Industrielle, Etablissements Lumière et J. Jougla Réunis on March 9th 1911, before finally adopting the name Société Lumière in 1928. For over half a century, it manufactured the Etiquette Bleue (blue label) snapshot photographic plate and, from 1907 onwards, the autochrome plate on which Louis had worked since 1903. |
